About the Spring Bank Project

Spring Bank Senior Resource Center is being created to give Frederick County seniors and their caregivers one trusted place to find support, services, and practical help to age with dignity, independence, and connection.

Frederick County’s older adult population continues to grow, and many seniors and caregivers struggle to navigate services spread across multiple agencies and locations. Spring Bank will create a central, welcoming hub where help is easier to access and community organizations can work together more effectively.

Vision Statement

Our vision is a Frederick County where older adults and their caregivers can easily access the support, services and community connections they need to live with dignity, independence and peace of mind.

Our Mission

The mission of the Spring Bank Senior Resource Center is to create a centralized, welcoming hub that connects older adults and their caregivers with trusted non-profit partners, essential services, and practical resources in one convenient location.

The History of Our Facility

Dating back to 1880, our facility was originally known as Harmony Grove and once belonged to prominent local businessman George Houck. It was then placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. Before being purchased by Dan Ryan Builders in 2007, our property served as a bed-and-breakfast for a period of time.

The History of Our Facility

Dating back to 1880, the Spring Bank property – originally known as Harmony Grove – has long been a part of Frederick County’s history. Once owned by prominent businessman George Houck, the property later was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

Today, this historic site is being thoroughly restored and repurposed to serve a new and meaningful role in our community.

Project Goals

We are transforming Spring Bank into a welcoming, accessible hub where older adults and their caregivers can access support, services and resources in one central location.

Once completed, the approximately 12,000-square-foot facility will house non-profit partners serving Frederick County seniors. The center is designed to improve access to care, reduce barriers to services, and strengthen collaboration among organizations working to support older adults.

In addition, the carriage house will receive donated durable medical equipment for loan or direct distribution to community members in need, providing a practical and meaningful resource for local seniors and caregivers.

This project represents both a preservation effort and a community investment – restoring a historic property while creating a lasting resource for one of Frederick County’s fastest growing populations.

Resource Center Renovation Project Goals

Currently, our facility is being transformed to become a premier resource center for senior citizens. Renovations are extensive and ongoing. Upon completion, our renovated center will provide high-quality administrative and conference spaces at reduced rates for Frederick-based nonprofit organizations. Our nonprofit office spaces allow these groups to serve local senior citizens more effectively. This vulnerable community makes up over 20% of our county’s population.

Project Progress

Spring Bank is actively moving from vision to reality.

Recent progress includes:

  • Obsolete boiler equipment revoved
  • New electrical service installed
